Kentucky Performing Arts plays an important role in the economic and educational well-being of the Commonwealth.  Our family of venues, The Kentucky Center, Brown Theatre, and Old Forester’s Paristown Hall, serve as a hub for local, national, and international artists, for community engagement, and for arts education.

Our signature education program, the Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts, empowers the next generation of Kentucky’s creative leaders.  Established in 1987, this three-week summer residency program nurtures young artists from throughout the Commonwealth.  Teaching them to embrace their talents, enabling them to gain confidence and realize their full potential as artist-citizens vitally important to society.

KPA is committed to breaking down barriers and opening doors.  Our programming supports artists and artforms that reflect the diverse community we serve.  We provide opportunities for all to enjoy performances through community partnerships and ticket subsidies.  Our ArtsReach program creates powerful and meaningful experiences for our community through access to arts events, resources, and spaces. Our award winning ArtsAccessibility program ensures that our facilities and programming are accessible to everyone by providing assistive listening devices, audio description, captioning, sign language interpreters, and large print programs.

The KPA Bradley Awards, an official Regional Awards Program of The National High School Musical Theatre Awards® (NHSMTA®), otherwise known as The Jimmy Awards®, celebrates young artists and elevating the importance of theatre arts education in Kentucky and Southern Indiana.
